The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886, a gift from the people of France. Frederic Auguste Bartholdi sculpted the copper figure, and Gustave Eiffel engineered the iron frame inside. Richard Morris Hunt designed the pedestal, which stands inside the star shaped walls of Fort Wood. The crown has 25 windows and seven rays, and visitors reach it by a spiral stair.

The eleven pointed star of the old fort, the granite pedestal, the green copper robe, the raised torch, the seven rayed crown, the iron armature inside and the double helix stair. Mood: harbor morning. Everything is procedural geometry with painted surfaces; nothing is a scan or a photograph. The room is an interpretation, and it hangs the New Yorkers the census recorded at this place first.
